What is TIKKA?

Tikka is a popular dish in Indian cuisine that is known for its rich and flavorful taste. It typically consists of small pieces of marinated meat, such as chicken, lamb, or even vegetarian options like paneer, mushroom, etc that are skewered and cooked in a tandoor (a traditional clay oven) or grilled.

The marinade for tikka is made by combining yogurt with a variety of aromatic spice powders, such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, paprika, ginger, garlic, and chili. This mixture is then used to coat the main elements (like meat, paneer or mushroom, etc), allowing it to absorb the flavors and become tender and juicy.

The above whole process is a bit time-consuming. So to make super quick and easy tikka dishes, MASALEJAR marinades and curry paste are bang on to opt. The brand is available on Amazon, do surely have a look there!
Well, All you have to do is mix, and cook and the tikka is ready in no time.

Achari Aloo (Potato) Tikka!

Achari Aloo Tikka is a popular North Indian dish that is loved for its unique blend of tangy and spicy flavors. This dish is made by marinating boiled potatoes in a mixture of yogurt, pickle spices, and a variety of aromatic spices. The pickle spices, which typically include mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds, and nigella seeds, give the dish its distinct ‘achari’ or ‘pickle-like flavor’.

Here I am making the Achari Aloo Tikka using the Masalejar Achari Marinade. You don’t need any other ingredients – this is an all-in-one masala, I haven’t even added salt here.

Trust me guys, it’s a flavour that never breaks!!! It is a crowd-pleaser that is sure to impress your guests without much effort.

Achari Aloo Tikka 3.

To prepare Achari Aloo Tikka, I have chosen baby potatoes. The boiled potatoes are coated with the flavorful marinade. The marinade is made by combining yogurt, and the achari marinade. The achari marinade from Masalejar has the perfect tangy kick. Also, I have used some capsicums and onions along with baby potatoes.

The potatoes, capsicums, and onions are left to marinate for a few minutes, allowing the flavors to penetrate and infuse them with their delicious taste.

Once the marination process is complete, the potatoes, capsicum, and onions are skewered first. And then these are air-fried until they are golden and crispy on the outside while remaining soft and tender on the inside.

There is nothing complicated about this recipe and I have posted a quick video on my Insta Page. You can refer to that, for a quick understanding.

Serving suggestion –

Achari Aloo Tikka can be served as an appetizer or as a side dish. It pairs well with mint chutney or tamarind chutney, adding a refreshing and tangy element to the dish. The combination of the tanginess from the pickles and the spiciness from the marinade creates a delightful explosion of flavors in every bite.

Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or looking to try something new, Achari Aloo Tikka is a must-try dish. This will surely leave your taste buds craving for more. It is a perfect choice for both casual gatherings and special occasions.

Event-related to this post :

The February month challenge in the ‘Shhhhh Cooking Secretly Challenge’ group was ‘Post Pregnancy Food’, suggested by Aruna. Well, I was partnered with Preethi Prasad for this theme, she gave me 2 secret ingredients Dalia and Cardamom, and I gave her the secret ingredients Dry ginger and Cumin seeds. And, as usual, using my two ingredients I have come up with this Dalia Kheer for the theme contribution.

A lovely aloo tikka recipe and when you have a ready made marinade that is not filled with artificial colouring and doesn’t compromise on the flavours, it is a winner. Wish I could get Masalejar products where I am.
